Before getting together in 2011, each member was doing his own thing, working on their individual music pursuits, and getting through some personal battles. Each had his own story to tell. Yet Brian Elmquist was already an accomplished artist with three albums to his name. Kanene Pipkin was on open mic emcee, musician, and music teacher in Beijing, China. While Zach Williams was keeping a journal of how he dealt with feelings of despair and hope while his wife was suffering temporary paralysis after a bad horse riding accident. All these stories wore woven together, and fans got to hear their stories in their 2013 self-title debut album. And yes, the band and their debut didn't go unnoticed. It charted no. 64 at Billboard's 200. It took the number 8 position in People Magazine's Top Albums of 2013. It was proclaimed as "One of the top reasons to love country music in 2013", says Entertainment Weekly.
