Recently formed in 2013 by Amanda Meath, previously of trio Mountain Man, and Nick Sanborn of Megafaun and Made Of Oak, Sylvan Esso was the happy result of Meath meeting Sanborn and giving the vocals to her pre-written song, “Play It Right,” and requesting that he create a version of it “in his own way”. Gradually, a partnership formed, and Sylvan Esso was born.

The band have gained recognition for their eclectic influences and diverse, yet somehow unified sound, incorporating elements of folk pop, electro folk, and indie pop. As described by Elle; "Sylvan Esso combines the organic, folk-like qualities of Meath’s vocals with electronic beats and found sounds engineered by Sanbore… it embraces saccharine synths, bright xylophone tones, and dance beats”.

Their debut album, “Sylvan Esso,” was released May 2014. It was well-received, reaching number 7 on the Independent Albums chart, and entering the Billboard 200 at 39th place. Paste Magazine named the single "Hey Mami" as their No. 1 song of 2014. The duo have toured extensively worldwide and released two singles in 2016 with a music video accompanying “Kick Jump Twist,” – signs, we hope, of a brand new album from Sylvan Esso waiting in the wings for 2017!!
