UK-based shoegazers - Slowdive is back on the road for a US tour this fall. Headlining in major cities across the nation, fans of the band's classic hits and new dream pop anthems are in for a wild ride. With a new album "Everything Is Alive" shaking things up, the band's new singles - "Kisses", "Skin in the Game", "The Slab", and "Alife" got fans, both old and new, craving for more. After a string of shows and festival performances over the past months, they're heading back to the US for another headlining run of shows that'll remind you that everything is indeed alive.
Widely known for their 1991 debut LP "Just for a Day" and their sophomore release "Souvlaki" that marked their spot in the shoegaze scene, Slowdive's legacy stayed in the minds and hearts of fans worldwide. Though they initially disbanded back in 1995, the band reunited and returned to the stage in 2014, playing at the Primavera Sound festival. Current members include Rachel Goswell, Neil Halstead, Nick Chaplin, Christian Savill, and Simon Scott, all of whom played with the band since their early days.
Releasing a self-titled LP in 2017, Slowdive marked their huge comeback, met with critical acclaim. At a time when no one saw a new Slowdive record coming, all of us were taken by surprise. Now, we've got the band resurrected - featuring a set of members who were there through thick and thin in its humble beginnings. A five-month world tour and an array of festival gigs, they found have once again found their place in everyone's hearts. Now, even Gen Zs have become obsessed with these shoegaze legends.
"It was quite a natural, organic thing," Halstead said about the band's evolution, as cited from The Standard. With a massively successful new album "Everything is Alive" - it surely is more than ever. Shoegaze has stuck around, and it's thanks to a new generation of listeners that checked out these nuggets from the time. "Maybe the internet had a real good impact on shoegaze because it’s given kids now a chance to check it out," Slowdive told Pitchfork.
