My Morning Jacket at The Stage AE

At the start of their career, My Morning Jacket developed a niche following due to the band’s critically acclaimed songs from their underrated debut and sophomore album, The Tennesee Fire and At Dawn. Their second album may not have entered the mainstream charts, but it received wide critical acclaim from major publications like Pitchfork and renowned musicians, including Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters. By 2003, My Morning Jacket broke into the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 2 on the Heatseekers chart with their third album, It Still Moves. The highly-rated effort spawned several My Morning Jacket staples, including “One Big Holiday” and “Run Thru.”

Soon the band was seen as a force in the indie rock scene with fast-rising popularity and excellently written and produced songs at their helm. True enough, My Morning Jacket received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2008 with their fifth effort, Evil Urges. The critically-acclaimed album spawned the incredible singles “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2” and “I’m Amazed.” The album soared to Billboard 200’s top 10 and entered the charts in four other countries. Three years later, the band released their highest charting effort to date. Circuital peaked at number 5 on the Billboard and topped the Independent Albums chart. Thanks to their exemplary work with the album, the band received another Best Alternative Music Album nomination at the 54th Grammy Awards.
