Thanksgiving is almost here, and what better way to celebrate 2024 than with some good old Grateful Dead!!! And you know that means the very best in the business, Dark Star Orchestra! The renown tribute band, will be jamming down in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 26th 2024, at the one and only Stage AE.
If you're after the closest thing you can find to Grateful Dead, you've come to the right place. DSO are what pundits call a “pure” approach to the Dead’s legacy, reveling in Grateful Dead lore and yet, still managing to find their own voice and put their own style and swing into the tracks.
So, smash that "Get Tickets" button right now, cos this is looking like the ultimate Thanksgiving week, complete with the very best concert you could find to go to. Tickets will sell out, so don't delay.
The 2024 fall run for Dark Star Orchestra, and your last chance to catch them live, this year. Once again the band have lined up their favorite cities, kicking off in Port Chester, NY with a two-night run at The Capitol Theatre, followed by a stop at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Then on to Rome, NY for a night at the Capitol Theatre, a stop at the Forum Theater in Binghamton, NY, the House of Blues in Boston, MA, and College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT. Thanksgiving week starts with the stop here at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on November 26th, followed by Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA, and finally a two-night run at Paramount in Huntington, NY to wrap up November.
Then, for those lucky enough to get tickets, the Cosmic New Year returns to The Anthem in Washington, DC on December 28th and the Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia, PA on December 29th. And the last, and final show, or a pair of shows really, as Dark Star Orchestra ring in the New Year back at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on December 30th and 31st.
To anyone who may be familiar with DSO, or Grateful Dead, you'll know that they are a Tribute band, but not an absolute clone. They bring their own style and creativity to their re-creations.
"Technically, perhaps we are a tribute band. But the phrase 'tribute band' conjures up images of band members dressing up and trying to act like the original band members. We leave out this formulaic part of the typical tribute band, as we are only concerned with the musical aspect. It is true that a few members may vaguely resemble their musical counterparts, but this is more by mere happenstance and perhaps a bit of synchronicity and is something that we don’t discuss or care about. What we care about is performing Grateful Dead music the best we can. The term 'Orchestra' is fitting because that’s the way we approach playing the music." The band said in an interview a few years ago.
So, for something a little different to start off your festive season this fall, hit that "Get Tickets" button today. You'll be forever "Grateful" you did!
