Coheed and Cambria at The Stage AE

Coheed and Cambria is a progressive rock band. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Claudio Sanchez, guitarist/vocalist Travis Stever, drummer/keyboardist/backing vocals Josh Eppard, and bassist/backing vocals Zach Cooper. They are renowned for fusing progressive rock, pop, heavy metal, and post-hardcore and are renowned for their clever lyrics, tight hooks, and inventive sounds. All of their released albums, except for "The Color Before the Sun," are concept albums for Claudio Sanchez's comic book series The Amory Wars.

The band started forming in 1995. In the beginning, Sanchez and Stever established a shortlived band called Beatufiul Loser. They have to disband months after. After some time of experimentation and band name changes, they settled on naming themselves Coheen and Cambria after Sanchez's development of the science fiction graphic novel The Amory Wars. Their first album, "The Second Stage Turbine Blade," came out in 2002. This first release tells the story of the couple Coheen and Cambria, the main characters from which the band's name came. The start of a tetralogy, the subsequent albums delved deeply into the world of the graphic novel. The succeeding concept albums are "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness" (2005), "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow" (2007), "Year of the Black Rainbow" (2010), "The Afterman: Ascension" (2012), "The Afterman: Descension" (2013), "Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures" (2018) and "Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind" (2022). Including 2015's "The Color Before the Sun," all records peaked at the Billboard 200 chart, with "Year of the Black Rainbow" and "The Afterman: Ascension" reaching the top 5.
